About the show
The premise is simple: Four strangers all meet at a housewarming party for their friends Karen and Jeff (who never appears). These strangers somehow wind up on the porch, get tipsy and accuse one another of destroying American society. An evangelical Christian suburbanite called Brenda; an overeducated drug dealer named Craig; Evan, a materialistic and vapid queer; and a maladjusted manic-depressive named Marc don't have anything good to say about one another—or, for that matter, themselves.
The show is an allegory for what playwright and director Matthew Foster sees as the ongoing American culture wars. After September 11, Foster decided he had absolutely had it with all of the "united we stand" rhetoric and thought it was high time we all got back to doing what Americans do best: Hate the living shit out of one another—without killing each other in the streets over it.
